Jan was born in Montreal, Quebec. Having grown up with a mother who painted she was always aware of the creative process, and was fascinated by images and how the world is represented through the eyes of others. This interest was cultivated through fine art courses she studied at Algonquin College. While raising her family she also had the opportunity to teach children’s art classes. “Taking the time to be creative with children opens the door to endless possibilities.” A proud mother and friend to her four children, Jenny, Lauren, Adam and Michael, who constantly inspire her art. She works in watercolours, oils, acrylics, and collage. She has traveled and exhibited extensively in both North America and Europe. Jan lives and paints in Brockville, Ontario, surrounded by the St. Lawrence, her children and her grandchildren. "The beautiful ambience of the St. Lawrence has captured my soul.” She has recently completed a series of intimate, abstract landscape paintings, depicting the light and movement of the St. Lawrence.
