My journey from fibre artist to painter has been an interesting one. Changing medium after fifteen years and developing an allergy to fibre was quite a switch. Thank goodness I moved to Brockville and was able to start taking classes at St. Lawrence College. With help from Diane Godwin Sheridan, Andrea Mossop, Margo Miller and drawing classes with Laura Kellam, I finally found my voice again with water-based mediums and pencils. Then to find a method of framing that would tie in with my framed fibre art. Thanks to Google and with technical help from my talented brother we were able to come up with a frame to which I could bond the work. He uses recycled wood which makes me happy. Some more research and I found a non toxic wax which would protect the watercolour so that putting glass in front of the work was not necessary. Now the finished pieces worked for me and my vision of the final work.
