Colleen O’Connell is a Brockville artist who enjoys working in a variety of mediums. Detailed paintings of wildlife and flowers highlight her work. The vivid colours produced by acrylic, ink, pastel, watercolour and oil motivate her to experiment in mixed media. She has painted on canvas, board, paper, tile and glass.
Colleen is a certified Paverpol instructor. She has created small and large sculptures for both the indoors and gardens. Nine of her sculptures may be seen at Maitland Garden of Hope. Colleen’s work has been displayed at the Marianne Van Silfhout Gallery, the Brockville Library, Maitland Garden of Hope, Luxe Boutiques (Prescott), Cailuan Gallery (Cornwall), the Corridor Art Gallery at the Brockville General Hospital, the Brockville Art Centre and Thousand Islands Village. “Village Life 2” is a 24” x 24” mixed media piece. It is the second in the series of 4, depicting the changing seasons of “Village Life.” Acrylic painting, inks and hand dyed papers have been used to create this glimpse into a quaint Canadian town during the summer months. Posters of this piece and the winter version are available.

“Village Life” is a 24” x 24” acrylic and collage piece. The papers used were hand dyed or altered papers. The artist attempted to capture the spirit of small town life during the winter season. This action filled piece allows the artist to become a storyteller.
