"I enjoyed art through high school but never explored it further until well into my retirement years and only after I suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2011. Through my time of recovery, I met an artist/friend who introduced me to the world of painting and a flood of creative juices was unleashed which motivated me to devote my time to learn all I could about acrylics. I am a realist artist and enjoy detail and subjects that challenge and intrigue me, and hopefully connect with the viewer.
Some of my first artwork pieces were accepted into the juried exhibit “Along the River's Edge” at the Thousand Islands Art Center in Clayton, NY. My paintings were also used on the invitations and programs for the following year. In 2019 my painting “Papaveracae” was selected into the “RED” juried exhibit at SLC Marianne van Silfhout Art Gallery in Brockville, Ontario and in 2020 my painting “Close Knit Family” was selected into the juried exhibit at the Window Art Gallery, Kingston, Ontario. I have showcased my artwork in fundraising events at Brockville General Hospital and local venues in the community along with surrounding art shows from Kingston, Smiths Falls and Brockville. My paintings are featured in homes in England, across Canada and in the United States. Painting has and continues to be a place of healing and I am so thankful that the world of art came to be a true gift from God. I give Him all the glory!" |
